Die Fledermaus

This fall, I got to live my dream of singing Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus. The reason why this is so special to me is because there are so few roles written for sopranos that are comedic. I remember my opera director in graduate school at the University of Oregon, Doug Webster, told me that my gift was comedy. Finally, I got to really explore this in a soprano role! While the dialogues were in English, all the singing was in German, and it was a mouthful! I had a lot of fun working on this. I would love another opportunity to perform it and add much more physical comedy.
This was again with NYOF, at the Plainfield Masonic Temple, a great place to sing!
Another big deal was that my parents flew down from Alaska to come see it! Here is a picture of us getting silly after the show:
